There are lots of nice, visual things to share with you all this week. Including: Oracle decks! Art journals! Linocut stamps! Gelli prints in action!
Which is a win for the home team, actually, because the week itself started off with me throwing an absolute wobbly and deleteing my website with immediate effect. Guess I’ll need to fix that…
Anyway. Next up came a massive oracle card spread from three different decks.
I don’t really know WHY I had a really strong urge to do this and WHY these oracle decks and WHY three cards each but… the universe clearly has a message. 💌
🐌 Prairie Majesty Oracle: @joyful_resonance (honestly one of my favourite decks of anything, oracle cards or tarot)
🐌 The Wild Unknown Archetypes: @kim_krans
🐌 The Citadel: @rosdottir
🐌 Lovely velvet reading cloth: @kittenchops_illustration
I’m still looking at all the correspondances and vibes and any flashes of insight I might have (and jotting them wildly down as they come), but I have to say, I feel relieved by this, somehow.
Like you don’t know you’re carrying something and you’ve set it down.
🐦⬛ I’m making art again
Thankfully (!!) for me and the future of my art practice, it’s given me the headspace to start to tenatively art journal again. I’ve been in an awful arid place since this happened, where the paint is always dried up and the water is always dirty. I’ve been going over older pages and basically ‘rehabbing’ what doesn’t serve me there anymore.
Here’s a biggie, did a massive rehab on this:
🐝From reworking old art to learning new skills
Learning to make better linocut art is really frustrating but I have to keep chipping away at it (see what I did there) if I want to make any progress. So I’m starting (again) but small this time, making little sigils and designs.
This is my favourite. It’s offially a snail but people have (understandably) thought it was other things including…
a bear
a badger
a vulva doorknob
a Maasai Warrior praying to the Tree of Life for the Rains (honestly how badass is that. Thanks, Luzidity)
🦦Sneak peek for my paid subscribers
I’m nearly finished your March pack of downloadable art!
It features, among other assorted gems, gelli prints 👀
Finally, this week, I want to say that you (I, we, civilisation) needs to stop waiting for the big perfect romantic meaningful bouquet of tastefully curated, perfect perfect flowers and …just go buy them your(my)self.
While we’re letting that sink in, let’s take a moment to appreciate this tattoo: I’m making an effort to really see and enjoy all the (many) tattoos that I have instead of always wanting the next one, the next one, the next one.
Thanks for reading!
And remember! You can’t be sad while riding a bike!1
